It’s that time of year. Most sports are in their offseason and the flood gates have opened. Tons of programs have started and the options for parents and athletes are endless. But how do you know which Orlando sports camp to choose?
First and foremost you need to do your research. Only you know exactly what is going to be best for your athletic development. Look for opportunities to get better and go in with realistic expectations. It is important that the camps you are considering fit into your overall training plan for the summer and not the other way around. Keep in mind that summer is 3 months out of the year and the average camp is 3 to 5 days. With that being said Orlando has tons of great sports camps available that are sure to give you some skills that can be used in your training for years to come.
Below I am going to share some EPOK approved Orlando sports camps.
Top Choice: Verum Academy
This is my top choice for Orlando area sports camps. The level of planning and coaching that Verum Academy brings to the table is something I have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand, and will be able to do again, as EPOK will be involved with some of the opportunities I am about to mention.
For those of you that don’t know, Verum Academy is a top level soccer school located here in Orlando. Obviously since it is summer time school is not in session, but the academy is hosting some amazing soccer camps that are worthy of your consideration.
The first opportunity is a one week Wolverhampton Wanderers Player ID Camp from July 15th through the 19th. The camp will be overseen by Wolverhampton coaching staff and will include their drills and methods. This is geared towards players that are playing towards the top of their age group. There are opportunities to be selected for a National camp or to possibly receive an invitation to England. The next option is the Atletico De Madrid Orlando Florida Camp. This camp is really made up of 3 different camps, all providing a different experience. The level of coaching and supplemental information is sure to impress you. Check out the link above to see what option is best for you. For more information on any of these camps you can email Verum directly: [email protected]
Ray Ray Day
This camp just seems like a good time! Oh and it’s FREE. It is run by former Seminole High School Alum and current Linebacker for the Cleveland Browns Ray Ray Armstrong. I always love to see athletes giving back to the communities they grew up in. From the looks of it this is going to be a great experience for all those that attend.
The camp starts Friday June 21st with basketball games at Seminole High School and continues the following morning with a boys and girls football camp. A community barbecue will take place after the camp is done from 12:30 to 5:30pm. Registration is open until June 20th and the event is capped at 300 kids. Check out rayrayday.com to register or sign up in person at the Westside Boys and Girls Club
Rollins Sports Camps
If you are looking for an Orlando sports camp to attend this might be your best bet. Rollins College offers camps for a variety of sports. The camps take place in Winter Park and are overseen by Rollins College staff. There simply are not many opportunities like this in the area. The ability to work with college coaches and college players should be a big selling point and deserves some research on your part.
A number of their camps have already happened but currently there are still opportunities for volleyball, softball, women’s lacrosse, and soccer. Check out their events page to see if any of their options fit what you are looking for.
Orlando Magic Camps
The Orlando Magic puts on over 20 summer basketball camps in the Central Florida area. These camps take place from mid June to early August. The camps include skill instruction, camp gear, giveaways, and a ticket to a Magic home game. For the price you really can’t beat it. The camp provides so much flexibility it’s hard to imagine a scenario where you couldn’t make this work with your summer schedule.
You really can’t go wrong with whatever Orlando sports camp you choose. The youth sports community here in Orlando is full of amazing options to help athletes learn and grow. Remember to do your research and pick what will work best for you.
